CITIZENM SEATTLE SOUTH LAKE UNION

PROBLEM:

When citizenM opened their 21st hotel in Seattle, they wanted to attract business travellers visiting this fast-growing tech city, as well as the historic artistic and adventure-loving communities that have used the city as a base for generations.

SOLUTION:

We built a platform around the innovation that runs deep in Seattle. Since the beginning, the city has been home to ground-breaking inventions from the down jacket to the jumbo jet, grunge music to modern coffee culture. And of course, the tech boom we see today.

We cast 18 Seattleites, each of whom were either responsible for specific innovations or whose stories are intertwined with them. Leila Fakouri captured each of the citizens, creating stills and gifs, while 4 were interviewed in films that explored their stories more fully.

The films and gifs formed the social launch, while the final portraits were exhibited across the windows of the hotel, building on the previous exhibitions at the Bowery, Copenhagen and Zurich.
