BUILDING!

PROBLEM
To protect us from wind, heavy rain, and extreme temperatures, houses need to be more than just bricks and mortar. They need to be very sturdy constructions. NEMO’s latest temporary exhibition ‘Building!’ explores the many ways we can construct buildings and live in them, now and in the future. But, how do you show people that there is more to buildings than meets the eye?

SOLUTION
The most important part of a building is the construction. To emphasize that, we built a house completely made of cardboard. Because, if you can create a solid house out of cardboard, you can build whatever you want.

CREATIVE
After spending the entire budget on 270 cardboard boxes, we asked an architect to design a house with them. The result, which took us two days to build, is a two-floor castle that can hold up to three people.
