The marijuana industry is currently the tech and VC industry’s darling. Weedmaps was the first and largest global technology and media company in the marijuana space. Similar to Yelp, it helps you “Find the Good Stuff.”
The goal was to reposition the brand in order to play a dominant role in market and to take it to a mainstream audience. We transformed Weedmaps from a pot culture brand into a major player in pop culture. I was responsible for bringing the retainer account to Kesselskramer Los Angeles where I led the Creative Department and provided Creative Direction, Art Direction, Design, and UX on all brand properties.
We wanted to refresh what a Marijuana brand could look like, moving into a friendlier space without losing the attitude and edge.
Playful, clever, friendly, and free-spirited was the tone for all artwork. Illustrations were created by Will Bryant for brand communications, including a line of apparel, and localized based on region.
We redesigned the entire mobile and web experience reflecting the brand redesign and new positioning.
We expanded the brand into a new marketplace, B2B with dispensaries around the country and created a community for budtenders,.
The best source of elevated education; from how to roll a joint, to the deeper science behind Marijuana and the beneficial effects on the human body.
Original content, gifs, infographics, and printed communications were created for social media and dispensaries as education tools. The Higher Learning blog hosted original content, information, and study material providing a wikipedia wealth of knowledge.
