Museum of Londoners x Borough of Culture

The Museum of London is the Museum of Londoners. In our second photography series we supported London’s first ever Borough of Culture, Waltham Forest. These mums are welcoming some of the borough’s newest residents at Whipps Cross Hospital in 2019.

Waltham Forest was awarded the first ever London Borough of Culture. The award from the Mayor of London ensured arts and culture was placed at the heart of the community. The Museum decided to collaborate with Waltham Forest and offer the hoarding as a space to highlight the character, diversity and cultures of the borough. We decided to focus on Whipps Cross Hospital (which has the largest maternity ward in Europe) and proudly show Waltham Forest’s first Borough of Culture babies, through their empowered mums.

For our second hoarding installation we collaborated with photographer Lucy Alex Mac.
